The Galaxy A06 ships in a two-piece slide-out cardboard box. The insides are all cardboard, and the printing is done using soy ink. While we definitely appreciate the eco-friendly approach, this is probably the flimsiest case we’ve encountered in a while. The cardboard is just way too thin for shipping. Our review unit arrived with an absolutely demolished box. To be fair, the actual phone itself was fine and undamaged, but that just seems like a little miracle, given the state of the box.
OneUI 6.1 on top of Android 14
The Galaxy A06 runs Samsung’s One UI 6.1 on top of the latest Android 14. Technically, this is the latest One UI version the Korean giant has to offer, and it is the same one running on the flagship S24 series, with some omissions. Samsung’s Galaxy AI isn’t present on the A06. It is still relegated mostly to flagship devices, though Samsung has been broadening the reach of the features a bit lately. Not quite this much, though.
The Galaxy A06 accessory package doesn’t earn any extra points for the unboxing experience either. Besides the phone itself, you only get a passive USB Type-C to Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool and some documentation.
Secure access at your fingertips
Unlocking is a breeze with the side fingerprint sensor. It offers a reliable single-press verification and allows you to set double-press shortcuts for your camera or other frequently used apps.
Built to keep your passwords safe
Samsung Knox Vault is like a safe within a safe, physically isolating PINS, passwords and other private info so hackers can’t gain access.
Power up. Stay connected.
Enjoy more of what you love without worrying about battery life—Galaxy A06 goes longer on a single charge with the 5,000mAh (typical) battery. And with 25W Fast Charging, it’s back in action quickly.
Built to last on the OS upgrades
Offered with up to 2 generations of OS upgrades and 4 years of security maintenance, your Galaxy A06 stays up-to-date for longer.
The Samsung Galaxy A05 is equipped with a powerful, non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery. This sizable battery ensures long-lasting usage, allowing users to stay connected, play games, stream content, and more without constantly worrying about running out of power.
Charging speed
Unfortunately, we had some trouble with our charging test on the Galaxy A06. We tried testing with two different Samsung 25W chargers and a known-good 65W third-party charger with support for SFC. No matter which charger we chose, our review unit refused to charge at more than 2W.
Speakers – loudness and quality
The Galaxy A06 has a single bottom-firing speaker. That’s quite understandable for a budget phone. That being said, other phones in this price bracket, like last year’s Galaxy A25 or the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G, offer stereo speakers on a budget.
